Code of Conduct
We want ProtoHacks to be a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone. All participants are expected to follow these guidelines:
1. Respect Everyone's Privacy
Respect the privacy of fellow participants. Do not share personal information, photographs, recordings, or other identifiable information without appropriate consent.
2. Support Your Peers
Encourage collaboration and help create a positive environment. Offer constructive feedback, celebrate others' ideas, and treat fellow hackers with respect.
3. Follow SFU Policies
All participants must follow applicable Simon Fraser University policies and venue rules. Hostile, discriminatory, harassing, or offensive behaviour toward other hackers, mentors, volunteers, judges, or organizers will not be tolerated.
4. Keep the Space Clean
Please dispose of garbage appropriately and leave the event spaces clean. Respect university facilities, equipment, and shared resources.
5. Be Considerate of Others
Keep conversations appropriate to the space you're in. Be mindful of others' ability to concentrate, collaborate, and participate.
6. Use Equipment Responsibly
Handle borrowed hardware and shared equipment carefully. Ask technical volunteers for assistance when needed and return borrowed components after use.
7. Respect Others' Work
Do not copy another team's project or claim someone else's work as your own. Give appropriate credit to external resources, libraries, APIs, and other materials used in your project.
8. Have Fun!
Experiment, learn something new, meet people, and enjoy the experience!
The organizers may take appropriate action in response to conduct that violates these guidelines, including asking participants to stop disruptive behaviour or leave the event.
